The 4th graders study and compare the digestive systems of humans and ruminant animals. Dr. Harkins, a local veterinarian, came and gave us a close up veiw of the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum...the four chambers of a cow's stomach.

Ag in the classroom...
In 4th grade, we incorporate agriculture into our daily lessons through inquiry and project based learning. This gives our students a hands on approach at solving real world problems. In addition to our greenhouse, we have a chicken coop, goat barn, rabbit hutch and calf/steer barn. We take turns doing chores while learning about and caring for our animals.
